Our Story
Rooted in faith. Grounded in community. Reaching forward in love.
Our Mission
"Our mission is to equip the saints to make disciples by teaching the Word of God, empowering believers to live out the Gospel, and sending them into the community to share the love of Christ through both truth and service."
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a spiritually strong, community-centered church that transforms lives through discipleship, outreach, and compassionate service. We envision a church where believers are fully equipped to win souls, live holy lives, and serve their community. We envision a multipurpose facility that will serve as a hub of hope — providing educational programs, technology training, food assistance, youth development, senior care, and transportation for those in need. Through these works of love, we will reflect the heart of Christ, meeting both spiritual and practical needs so that people may see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven.
— Matthew 5:16
Our Shepherd
Senior Pastor, Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church
Pastor Edward L. Woodbury was born and raised in Palm Beach County, Florida. He has spent his life serving others and has faithfully served the Christian community as a musician, Minister of Music, and conductor for more than 30 years.
Pastor Woodbury was chosen by God as the next Pastor of Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church by way of his father in the ministry, the late Reverend William H. Burrs, in 2017. He is a man who loves God, God's people, and God's Word — known for preaching, teaching, counseling, warmth, humor, and transparency.
He has a passion for mentoring young people and counseling married couples. He also established the Peaceful Zion Community Food Bank, which has served many families and continues to bless the community today. He has shared his musical gifts with many gospel artists including Shirley Caesar, John P. Kee, Richard Smallwood, Dorothy Norwood, and Barbara Ward Farmer.
Pastor Woodbury was the husband of the late First Lady Sheila Lincoln Woodbury and the father of Elysa Woodbury Davis and Robert Walker. His goal is to be a humble servant and fully dedicated to the Lord's call.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding."

Our Heritage
Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church is a Christ-centered ministry committed to equipping believers to live out and share the Gospel through discipleship, service, and outreach. We train and empower born again believers to take the message of Christ into the hedges and highways, bringing hope, healing, and salvation to the lost and the needy.
Through both spiritual teaching and practical community programs, we serve families, youth, and seniors with compassion and purpose. Our vision is to be a beacon of light in the community, meeting real needs while glorifying God through every good work.
Through decades of faithful ministry, Peaceful Zion has grown from a small gathering of believers into a vibrant, multigenerational congregation — united by a shared love for God, one another, and the community we serve at 819 8th Street, West Palm Beach.

Our Foundation
Our faith is grounded in the historic Baptist tradition and the timeless truths of God's Word.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God — our complete and sufficient guide for faith and practice in all things.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and is coming again.
We believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone — His death, burial, and resurrection — not by works. Every person must be born again (John 3:16; Romans 10:9).
We believe in the power and indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who convicts, regenerates, and empowers every believer to live a holy and fruitful life for God.
We practice believer's baptism by immersion and observe the Lord's Supper as sacred ordinances of the church, commanded by Christ and observed in remembrance of Him.
We believe every believer is called to discipleship, holiness, and service — to grow in Christlike character and to reflect the love of God in every area of life.
We believe the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) calls every believer to share the Gospel, make disciples, and serve the community with compassion and purpose.
We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers, called to worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism — united in love to reflect Christ to the world.
